Cameron v Milliband (Round 1)

I still wouldn't vote for him and his "Hell yeah, I'm tough" routine made my toes curl. But credit where it's due, I actually thought Wallace aquitted himself reasonably well to the extent that overall he edged it on the night. Although I think that had it been a proper head-to-head, Cameron would have come out on top as he usually does in PMQs.

Milliband I thought fared better with Paxo than Cameron did, the audience Q&A sessions were more even (Cameron slicker, Milliband more bullish and passionate). Both of them evaded questions and neither landed any 'knockout' blows though. And no gaffes on either side. The 7-way debate will be interesting, but with so many taking part it will be more 'diluted' so we probably won't get to see the best or worst of any of them. Nonetheless I'm looking forward to it.

I actually thought both of them did well. But it's early days.

Millibland passionate? He could represent the UK at boring people to death. No Cheese Gromit!

Being ex Labour I have more contacts for them than I do Tory on social media and, as expected, they were all saying how much better Ed was than Call Me Dave.

Oddly enough the few Tories I am in touch with were saying the same about Call Me Dave towards Ed.

Very few neutrals mentioned it, either didn't give a fuck or were watching Celebrity Juice.

The hell yeah I found nauseating and, for me, came across as him being on message with 'special advisers'.

But I was baffled by questions about his toughness when the guy stood / shit on his own brother to get the role.

Call Me Dave was smooth as expected but, for me, his lack of answers spoke louder than his smoothness.

Haven't seen it yet, apart from some sections shown on the News and Newsnight.

One thing that did come across was how uncomfortable Cameron appeared in his session with Paxo re. food banks, immigration figures etc.

I can see why Cameron was so desperate to avoid a one to one debate with Miliband. He wouldn't have been able to get away with the approach used in his 5 years of non-answers in PMQs with Miliband in a prime time debate any more than he could with Paxo.
