A former equality chief has branded his years working to stamp out racial discrimination as 'utterly wrong'.

Writer and broadcaster Trevor Phillips said efforts made under the Blair government turned anti-racism into an 'ugly new doctrine'.

Mr Phillips is the former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and has waged a 30-year campaign to tackle issues around discrimination and equality.

In an upcoming Channel 4 documentary, called Things We Won't Say About Race That Are True, he says attempts to stop prejudice instead encouraged abuse and endangered lives as well as contributed to the rise of parties like Ukip.

I've always liked Trevor Phillips, a balanced reasoned person. There was talk of him standing to become the MP for Tottenham after Bernie Grant died but David Lammy stood, and won, instead.

Trevor Phillips said a few years ago that races generally favour their own, that people of whatever colour generally prefer people of that colour and so on. I remember Ken Livingstone, the London Mayor at the time, attacked Trevor Phillips for what he said, saying that Phillips had moved so far to the right that he might as well go and join the BNP. Lol. I always find it funny when progressives, and the old-Left, butt heads.

I think Phillips has been corrupted by money.

Really? He has been corrupted by money to disavow everything he stood for?
