An Ex Army Officer who is a "Socialist"....wouldn't trust him as far as I could piss.
Are there are any ex Council House tenants on the Guadrain's list perchance? Trade Union members? Non Uni graduates??

No, come on. Working class people aren't allowed in the Labour Party anymore. If you didn't do PPE at Oxford, you have no chance of climbing the greasy pole. Helps if your parents had high-level roles in the party too...

So apart from Islington Central who does Labour stand for? The blindly devoted Scousers and Geordies?

Although the numbers of party member are falling sharply the problem that Labour has is that sheep who blindly follow it are in total denial.
A lot still with them are deluded enough to believe they can make change from within, with a naive belief that one of 'the elite' will actually be one of 'them' eventually or better still that one of the current 'elite' will actually cut the crap, believe in their mantra and do what is needed to bring the party back to how it was.
Sadly (for some) what they don't get is no matter how principled they may be once the grasp hold of the ladder they have to fall in and appease the current 'elite' just to get along.

"Are there are any ex Council House tenants on the Guadrain's list perchance?"
You regard council tenants as scum as far as I recall based on your experience as a public sector worker in housing associations, so to have no ex council house tenants would be very positive for you surely?
" Trade Union members? "
Commie scum, surely Argie? !wink!
"Non Uni graduates??""
Well I suppose your ideal party would have an IQ test and only pick the thickest?
Oh sorry, that has already been done. It's called UKIP.
Aren't you quite keen on UKIP?

Mr Farage is hardly a simpleton. Nor the people who vote for UKIP. Locally their biggest financial backer is a multi-millionaire businessmen who attended Harrow and the LSE.....
Now can you please tell me who Labour want to vote for them? Factory workers or yuppies in some newly gentrifiend London borough?

I was just teasing you about only picking the thickest. Farage is no thicko. Very dangerous, but no thicko. And the same for Carswell and Reckless who are very keen on destroying any employee rights you might have Argie in your job.
You are right that the Labour party like all political parties at Westminster could do with people who come from a variety of backgrounds. But I don't see why not having a university education nor a wealthy background is a prerequisite for being a serious Labour MP. It is the policies that Labour MPs support that matters to me such as Surestart, minimum wage, proper funding for the NHS etc.
UKIPs only constant policy since its creation is to get the UK population to crowd into a Tardis and go back to the 1950s before there was all this nasty immigration and the EU didn't exist.
Now I can see why this might appeal to many who feel left behind and neglected but it doesn't strike me as a sensible policy any more than reintroducing the Home Guard under the control of a modern day Captain Mainwaring would be.
