Actresses dropping down like turkeys this week. I was sorry to hear that the
magnificent Billie Whitelaw, so sinister as Nurse Baylock in "The Omen" and
a fine actress in many other films (Ma Kray in "The Krays"), TV dramas and
theatre has passed away.
Film fans, especially my generation, may also remember the Italian blonde
bombshell with the leopard eyes - Virna Lisi - who also died a few days ago.
In American movies she was sexy in "How To Murder Your Wife" with Jack
Lemmon and Terry Thomas. A few years ago and much older she was scary
as Catherine de Medici in the French historical epic, "Queen Margot".
Along with Sophia Loren, another lynx-eyed beauty who is still with us, Virna
Lisi was always my idea of what a hot Latino should look like. R.I.P. ladies !

Couldn't agree more about Billie Whitelaw. I recall seeing her perform a Samuel Beckett play Not I on the tele.

I can literally remember my jaw dropping when I was watching this. You don't have to be a Beckett fan to realise that this is a staggering acting performance.

Her performance starts just under 3 mins in.

My mum worked at a Bradford paint and wallpaper company in Bradford with Billie Whitelaw's mum.

Billie was a superb actress. Not many people could get me to watch Beckett but she was mesmerising.
