So you lost. And you obviously miss the media limelight that stokes your massive ego......so you are going to stand as an MP....which part of the word "loser" don't you understand?

Makes complete sense to me.

SNP believe they lost a battle but not the war. Otherwise they may as well disband completely. Polls suggest that the SNP will make big gains in the May elections which may put the SNP in the position of helping Labour to form a coalition government as the third party.

In that situation Salmond will play a key part in negotiating an agreement and exacting a heavy price from Labour.

Salmond for Deputy Prime Minister?

Seriously? I doubt Nicola is looking forward to his return. Difficult to build your empire when the previous incumbent is not going away...

Seriously.

If the polls are correct, a big "if" I know, the SNP will win an extra 20 odd seats from Labour which could well make them the third party as what appears likely, the Lib Dem vote collapses.

The SNP have stated they would never form a coalition with the Tories but would with Labour. Neither Labour nor Tories look like getting an overall majority at the moment. Hence the need to form coalition governments. As a Westminster MP, Salmond would be the obvious choice to get a ministerial role in any Labour coalition government.

Don't worry, with all the shit the Lib Dems got for jumping into bed with the Tories, there's no way Labour would jump into bed with a party that wants to break up the United Kingdom.

It won't happen.

"there's no way Labour would jump into bed with a party that wants to break up the United Kingdom."

The Welsh government between 2007 and 2011 was run by a Labour/Plaid Cymru coalition.

It would depend on the terms and conditions of a possible coalition or alternatively, confidence and supply arrangement.

A man with an ego the size of Salmond's was never going to disappear. I assume he thought he would be offered some lucrative job or speaking engagements and these haven't arrived hence his need to go back to being an MP at the age many of us would be retiring.
