Building regulation approval

Hi All
I'm looking to sell my house and the people looking to buy it have asked for a building regulation approval form for a part of the kitchen wall I had knocked through to make the living room bigger.
The wall was a minor non load bearing wall,the work was carried out in the Summer of 1981.
Would I have even needed a certificate then?
