Then we need better regulation of charities, not less charity (if that's where you're going with this).

Yeah, thanks for the link.

Charities helping with the ebola outbreak. What a bunch of twats!

Red Cross, Red Crescent only in it for themselves.

And don't get me started on that Will Pooley.

It is not right. Charity should start at home. Well actually it should start in my home. My boiler is on the blink.

Disgusted of Blackpool.

Of course I don't miss the point. I am playing a part - a Ukipper part.

Your subject "Why charities are a con" is a deeply depressing and completely over the top. CHarities need overseeing properly, clearly.

Having said that the work that many do is invaluable and saves many, many lives amongst the poor, frightened and forlorn.

While making a fortune for their bosses...

"While making a fortune for their bosses"

Do I detect a whiff of exaggeration in that statement?

You seem to despise charities in general and not only the bosses but the people in the front line doing medical work e.g.

"In any case the aid agencies do not work in godforsaken areas out of the goodness of their hearts. They are exceptionally well paid. My former boss worked for one in Kabul after the fall of the Taliban and said the people who run aid agencies made the person who owned the company we worked for (a well-known tyrant publisher) seem like a saint."

"I couldn't give a stuff about how much aid agencies bosses earn. I'm just saying they don't send people to areas for altruistic reasons."

"I did mean the people who run them make a fortune not the drones."

I re-did my will a while back and the solicitor was brutally honest in her loathing of national charities who are an excellent career choice for those wanting a big salary while being able to maintain a caring stance. I support nothing outside my own city and will continue to do so.

"who are an excellent career choice for those wanting a big salary while being able to maintain a caring stance"

Bit like the legal profession then.......?

What a lot of rot you do talk. The legal profession doesn't have charitable tax exemption status for a start nor do most lawyers (in my experience) claim they are caring.
