No doubt the government will make a big issue about having reduced the number officially recorded as unemployed to 1.97million.
What I would like to see is a breakdown of what those who are no longer recorded are actually doing so if a full or near full time job or a zero hours contract and if their income is minimum wage or actually a living wage.

Well you can have hours of fun looking through this lot
One key fact is that the labour market statistics show a record fall in unemployment of 154,000 when comparing the quarter to August with the previous three months. However, economic inactivity increased by 113,000 in the three months to August. So the net figure for people moving into jobs is about 40k which is much less than previously. And if it is anything like previous sets of statistics, the majority of those 40,000 jobs will be self employed people on greatly reduced salaries as a result of potential employers telling them to come back on a self employed basis if they want to work.

statistics, statistics ....
always has me shaking my head at how one side (doesn't matter who) can produce one set of statistics thats proves how "right" they are and how hopelessly wrong their opponents are .... to which their opponents counter by doing exactly the same, to "prove" the polar opposite and that they are the ones with all the answers.
seems to me that anyone can cook up statistics that will "prove" just about anything.

a nice short read, if somewhat expensive to get second hand.
