RIP Ian Paisley
A great British patriot has left us. Now if we had more of his ilk in the current parliament we wouldn't be pushed around by faceless cretins in the EU and our human rights undermined by the PC brigade.
Re: RIP Ian Paisley
He realised in his latter years he had been wrong and decided talking was best. That is how we got peace in NI , by talking.

And by issuing an ultimatum to the terrorists. We know who you are, where you live and we'll take you all out in a night of the long knives. Talking was only half the process.

Re: RIP Ian Paisley
Paisley was giving one of his hell fire sermons, full of damnation and woes, the whole 11 on the dial. 'And there will be great gnashing of teeth when the call is finally given' he boomed. A little old lady on the front row said 'But Dr Paisley I dont have any teeth'. 'TEETH...WILL...BE...PRO-VIDED!' he replied.

Presumably that included the Protestant terrorists as well?

During the Troubles in Ireland, and even before, there was something
splendidly 18th century in watching dear old Ian spitting hellfire and
damnation at papists, the Pope, even young people dancing ! You
knew where you were with Ian. I found, still find, the later Paisley,
working in the new Northern Ireland Govt with Martin McGuinness, IRA
ex-chief of staff, as hard to fathom. I like to think - since Ian always
seemed sincere in all his beliefs - that he felt that if McGuinness could
bend a bit, so should he, and in their mutual accommodation, lead their
people into better times.....Still, when he gets to the Pearly Gates up there,
God help Heaven if Ian finds out St Peter is a catholic !

Re: RIP Ian Paisley
When he was publicly ranting at The Pope in the European Parliament,
Notice how the Dutch MEP's didn't join in.
There were probably too busy negotiating with the Italians and Spanish.
Which just about says it all about The Ulster Troubles really
A war fought by fringe people who fought by proxy a wider war in Europe
A war which mainland Europe itself had abandoned centuries ago
A bit like having Confederate still fighting Unionist in Alaska as if it matters
Yet Washington DC rules Virginia with its consent anyway.
He lumbered us into a war by initially propping up a loaded voting system with troops
But his obituary hardly made any papers
Oh for one man one vote in Ulster and celebrity culture on the mainland in the early 1970's instead of now
