Finally saw Neil Young at the Liverpool Arena on Sunday night - he cancelled his gig there last year.

Great performance. He is the Miles Davis of rock in that he doesn't stand still churning out note perfect renditions of his 1970's stuff. He gives a whole new twist to it. He ain't known as the Godfather of Grunge for nothing.

I enjoyed it so much I was even tempted to buy a ?25 tour Tshirt. Almost....

This link provides some excerpts. The sound quality on this link is poor. My recall was that it sounded a helluva lot better to my ears. Gives you and idea anyway.

Heard very mixed reviews. Love his older stuff but recent output has been hit and miss.

He played solo for about half an hour at the start of the gig. Then there was a support band, the Last Internationale a US rock band with a girl singer with a great rock voice.

Neil Young played for about two and a quarter hours non-stop.

Young was very very good but I'm still not sure about the end of the encore with all that feedback stuff. He did that last year when I saw him in Newcastle and a couple of years back in Nottingham. But it's a small price to see him where he is spititually at home, with the Horse.

Yeah, I guess the feedback when he shreds his guitar strings produces an apocalyptic finish. Like you say a small price to pay.

Slightly off topic, I saw Steven Seagal and his blues band last night. Very good indeed. He can play the blues, yes indeedy.

Well in similar vein, I've picked up tickets for the Who at Liverpool Arena in December.

After all they were fine when I last saw them...................in 1969
