As always with religion, we'll make them change and adapt to our morals..........then they'll convince us it was their idea all along.

It's progress of a sort and it came about by constant criticism and questioning of the religion. Without that public pressure, it would be still a haven for paedophiles for generations more.

Religions don't change unless you make them.

Well, firstly Catholics don't go to Sunday School ? that's for Proddies.

Secondly, just because the Holy Father has said that one in fifty priests is a paedophile does not actually make it so and in any case the Vatican is now denying some of the statements attributed to him. It says that the interview captured the "spirit of the conversation" not exactly a ringing endorsement for the journalist.

Thirdly, the Vatican doesn?t actually tell its priests to abuse children. The vast majority of them do not so do. And it has tried to stamp out the problem and to offer genuine apologies to the victims.

The Vatican has covered up paedophilia in the past, though. Moving known paedophiles to other countries and positions in the church instead of bringing in the police and excommunicating them.

Make them connected to, and partly responsible for paedophillia in my book.

I went to Sunday school (waste of my time). Wasn't abused once. It was a Protestant church though. Wouldn't send any kids for any religious teaching.

He has claimed that 1 in 50 Catholic Priests are paedo's. I would say its more like 1 in 10 and most of the others are gay and regularly have nooky with other men.

I saw a programme about all this recently. It said you regularly see senior Vatican clergy hanging around in gay bars and clubs in Rome, picking up rent boys and going back to their place for a bit of 'hows your father'. It also talked about how the Vatican Bank, one of the worlds most secretive banks, is mainly used for sheltering vast amounts of criminal money.

The Catholic church is one hideous institution.

Does it matter? It's all part of the same thread. And as Cockney says below Sunday School is for Protestants.

I don't always have time nor inclination to read every comment in a thread. If you reply to Max and it's meant for me, I might not see it. I'm guessing other's are the same.

And, again, you repeat the 'Sunday School' correction to me. I've not mentioned Sunday school - Arg did.
