I wonder if any other folk enjoyed the speech Theresa May delivered to the
Police Federation Conference ? It was astonishing ! Never have I seen a
politician give a body of state officials such a dressing-down ! It was, in fact,
splendidly reminiscent of an old school headmistress telling off the class in
no uncertain matter ! Wonderful stuff ! How those senior police officers
squirmed in their seats. More bollockings please Theresa !

What amazed me was the Police Feds gets about ?200,000 a year from the taxpayer when that organisation is sitting on millions (allegedly). The Old Bill will never get their act together 100% but there are worst police forces on the planet, so we have to be be thankful that our coppers are the best (occasionally).

Agreed. Excellent stuff. Mind I have two points to make:

1. Given the Police Fed. has already agreed to substantial changes resulting from a review carried out, to a certain extent Theresa May was making political capital out of her approach, the day before local and European elections. I also think that she is aware that the Tories are not exactly viewed as the party of choice with the black population in London, hence her comments on stop and search.

2. I find it a bit vomit inducing that after nearly 1000 people have died in custody in the last 25 years and not a single successful prosecution of a policeman during this period, I get the impression that the thing that marked the police card more than anything else was trying to fit up one of the Tories' own, Cabinet Minister Andrew Mitchell in Plebgate.
