Who?ll win the FA Cup Final 2014?

The Mighty Magnificent Arsenal play the northern upstarts Hull City at Wembley today. I have little confidence that the Mighty Arsenal can win this one especially after the debacle against Brum (look where they are now) last time out. We struggled to beat Wigan in the semi and it was pure relief just to get through and win that match.

Although Arsene Wenger is most probably the best manager in the Premier league when it comes to getting the best of players who cost very little I think it?s time for Arsene to stand down. I would love for him to win and then move upstairs so he can cement his legacy. Playing people like Sanogo is a no-go. Even Giroud is a better than Sanogo. If we do win if won?t be a monkey off our back. It will be a damn huge gorilla.

My prediction 2-0 to dull Hull and the two ex-Tottenham players to score. !sad!

I hope two things happen. Arsenal batter Hull and then Arsene retires on a high.

I think Arsenal will win easily. Even though they've fell away in the league (again) after the daffodils popped their heads up, they seem a more balanced and mature side now compared to the last few seasons.

I'm gonna go for a 2-0 win to Arsenal.

Though I'd laugh my bollocks off if Huddlestone smacked in a last minute 30 yarder to win the cup for Hull.

The Hull connection with football...

Being a Londoner I am inclined to want Arsenal to win. We like the underdog though don't we, so I am kind of routing for Hull. It is Hull's biggest footballing day in over 100 years and last night on TV a couple of interesting facts were revealed. Here goes:

1. Hull invented football.
2. The chairman of Wembley Stadium is from Hull.
3. The steel to build the 400 foot tall arch over Wembley Stadium is made from steel made in Scunthorpe (well, that's near Hull).

The first two facts interested me and I thought I'd look into it more. Regarding fact 1, that Hull invented football, Wikipedia has this to say:

"Ebenezer Cobb Morley, a solicitor from Hull, wrote to Bell's Life newspaper in 1863, proposing a governing body for football. Morley was to become the FA's first secretary (1863?66) and its second president (1867?74), but is particularly remembered as it was he who drafted the first Laws of the Game at his home in Barnes, London, that are today played the world over. For this, he is considered not just the father of the Football Association, but of Association Football itself. Morley was born at 10 Garden Square, Princess Street in Hull and lived in the city until he was 22. He moved to Barnes in 1858.

Melvyn Benn, the chairman of Wembley Stadium is from Hull. I saw online that he was raised and schooled in a place called Bilton Grange in east Hull.

So, Hull and football have a lot to do with each other. Hull and Wembley Stadium too. This could give Hull the edge.

Either way I'm looking forward to this afternoon's game. I'm going to watch it in the pub with some friends of mine.

The result was more relief than anything else. Time to move upstairs Mr Wenger and bask in the eight major trophies you have won.

Bizarre 1) Some Arsenal players were wearing a pink boot on one foot and a light blue boot on the other foot.
Bizarre 2) Was someone really carving Arsenal's name on the trophy before the game had finished?
Bizarre 3) Er why was Thomas Vermaelen lifting the cup when a) he didn't play and b) can't even get into the main matchday eleven.
Bizarre 4) How did Gibbs manage to boot the ball over the bar when the goal was more open than a prostitute's legs. (Gibbs also nearly managed to score an own goal too but thankfully missed!!).

Oops. Nearly forgot:
Bizarre 5) Sanogo. Another Kevin Campbell or worse.

I did find the carving of the trophy with 5 mins to go a bit risky. And Hull could have scored in the last few minutes when your keeper was out of the net. Crazy stuff.

I went for a 2-0 win for Arsenal so knew I'd got that wrong 8 mins in! Still, I said to my brother-in-law that Hull had scored too early and would be under the cosh the rest of the match.

It's ok telling Wenger to go upstairs, but who'd replace him?

Compared to what was expected of both teams, Hull were the better team on the day and Arsenal weren't up to much. Someone said to me in the pub yesterday that Hull's 3rd minute goal was the second fastest goal in FA Cup history. For Arsenal to be 2-0 down after 8 minutes was pathetic. Hull should have scored 5 minutes from the end of extra-time aswell, the Arsenal goalie was a mile away from the goal and the goal was there, asking for the ball to be put into it. That would have made it 3-3. Unless there was a score in the next 5 minutes it would obviously have gone to penalties, and winning that is usually more luck than anything else. Hull came very near to lifting the trophy, they should pride themselves on getting to the final, that is a huge achievement and yesterday was the biggest day in the history of the club. Well done Hull.

"It's ok telling Wenger to go upstairs, but who'd replace him?"

I don't even have to think about it because he's staying on. He's allegedly earned more than ?60 million since being Arsenal manger. If i were him i would put my feet and and wait for the statue to be unveiled while i'm still alive. It's going to be very difficult to stay in the top four next season without spending money.
