Backing up my DVDs to hard drive

Hi Guys
I want to back up my xxx dvd collection to my harddrive.
I'm a computer novice does anyone know a straight forward easy way to do this?

is there away to compress the files,they are about 8gb each?

There's a slider that allows various compression (with according quality loss) or various preset outputs you can use. Best thing is to try it and see.

A regular DVD only holds 4.7gb of data. How can they be 8gb files?

But, yeah.......Handbrake is good and gives you options on compression.

Most DVDs can be compressed down to about 800mb with acceptable quality.

I was just guessing at about 8gb,I didn't realise they were 4.7gb on average.i just knew they were big.
