Never seen this before when it was on the telly, found it on youtube by mistake.

For those that don't know it's about "poor" people.

Now, lets get down to brass tacs. It's about arseholes who can't or won't support themselves. I have watched about 14 episodes and it is laughable. Money for drink, money for drugs, money for fags, money for stupid bloody tattoos on you head(and yet you pawn your childs PS2)

Please shoot these "people", and save this country a fortune!!!!!

I watched the episodes when they were broadcast and many of the people on that Scunthorpe estate were far from skint. There was a 21 year old girl with 5 kids and a woman in her 30's with (I think it was) 9 kids. The one with 5 kids was getting ?1,600 a month for them to live on, this excludes the money for the rent of their house, Council tax paid, National Insurance for the mother paid, free school meals, free school uniforms, Child Benefit and everything else. She would probably have to earn about ?30-35k a year, before tax, from a job to be that well off. If they are going to call her 'skint' then surely everyone with a family in Britain who earns, say, ?26 or 28k a year must be 'skint' too. There are millions of people in that situation and they are not referred to as 'skint' by anyone.

To be as well off as the woman with the 9 kids you would probably have to earn ?50k (or even more) from a job annually. Maybe even ?60k a year. Are all the people in Britain who earn a grand a week or more 'skint'? I don't think so. It is certain these woman have only had so many children because they know the DSS is a bottomless pit of money and will just keep showering them with cash the more kids they have. If one of these people were to be given a pet for Christmas they would most likely concern themselves with how much it would cost. They concern themselves less with the financial issues of having children though, even though kids obviously cost vastly more, because the Government just showers them with money.

"Never seen this before when it was on the telly, found it on youtube by mistake"

Yeah, right!

"I have watched about 14 episodes "

Jeez. What's a matter with you? Don't they have the Jeremy Kyle show in your area?

Anyway I have just done a quick perusal of the forthcoming tele and I want to give you a heads-up about "On Benefits and Proud" which is on Channel 5 on Monday night.

Seems right up your street. Happy viewing!

"Idle workshy fops that should be sent down the mines. Then block the mines up and stop the lazy twunts reproducing."

Is that a Channel 5 reality TV programme then?

PS Are you getting more accepted down the golf club despite you being a working class, public sector pen-pusher?

Since you lads seem to watch loads of tele, I thought I would just highlight this forthcoming programme. You won't like it because it probably won't make you feel superior, but it should be a good watch.

"?35 billion tax gap shocker. How Corporate Britain rips off the taxpayer."

Here's a summary

The money owed to the Treasury - dubbed by officials as the ?tax gap? - has grown to an eye-watering ?35billion a year, HM Revenue and Customs has admitted.

It is made up of avoidance schemes, illegal tax dodging and mistaken underpayments.

The government defines it as ?the difference between the amount of tax that should, in theory, be collected by HMRC, against what is actually collected?.

I'll give you a shout when it is due to be on. Makes single mother with 11 kids look fucking small feed, doesn't it?

The Government appear to have no interest in collecting this money. It may be that publicly they can't make statements that might jeopardise/undermine ongoing investigations, however I don't recall that they've said anything of substance or more importantly done anything.

More effort has gone into demonising the poor.

"The Government appear to have no interest in collecting this money."

The reasons for this are fairly straightforward:

1. The Tory party is largely owned by the Finance sector. When David Cameron became Tory leader, about 25% of Tory funding came from the Finance sector. At the last election it was 50%. The Finance sector is largely composed of companies that either/and employ tax avoidance techniques themselves to reduce their tax liability e.g. offshoring etc, have substantial businesses dedicated to coming up with ever more convoluted tax avoidance techniques for their corporate customers.

So the Finance sector is looking for some payback for its ownership of the Tory party and this is one area where they get their investment back in spades. Another classic example is the sell-off of Royal Mail where financial institutions were allocated 70% approx. of the shares and have made a killing.

2. The tabloid press is largely about individuals e.g. Justin Bieber, TOWIE "celebs", George Galloway, Red Ed etc etc. A lot of the tabloids are part of media empires that practise tax avoidance so they are hardly going to run regular campaigns themselves on corporate tax avoidance. Even if they did they realise that there are far more newspaper sales in demonising individuals e.g. single mum with 10 kids on the dole than in writing about fairly anonymous conglomerates. This allows the Tories to concentrate on this demonization. Keeping the working class divided and confused about who the real enemy is, is clearly a key objective.

Richard Branson emigrates...

As tax dodging by wealthy people has been talked about on this thread I thought it would be worth mentioning that Sir Richard Branson has left Britain and has moved permanently to his pad in Barbados. This was on the news today. It mentioned in the coverage that 'he will pay a lot less tax here by doing this'. No kidding. I bet he keeps his UK gaff though, returns here for 89 days a year (I think if you spend less than 90 days annually here you pay no tax at all) so you'll still see him being snapped by the paparazzi coming out of restaurants in London and so on. So he'll still live in the UK, part time, but pay less tax here than a road sweeper does. Maybe eventually all super-rich people will do this and the Government will get hardly any tax money at all.

I do believe Mr Branson pays many many millions in UK taxes...unlike some prominent Nu Labor backers....
