realistic chances of finding employment...

Hi All,
I'm looking for a bit of friendly advice.
My question isn't quite the usual "How do I start a porn site", but its along that theme =)
I'm a pretty experienced photographer and have recently started getting into making videos. its a genuine passion and something I adore doing. I love every aspect of it from filming to editing.
My questions is this, as a nearly 40 year old guy (yes there's a hint of midlife crisis there) with little or no qualifications or tangible experience. what are the chances of me getting work as a camera operator or video editor in the industry?
Or am I better off trying to go it my own? create my own website clips4sale site etc? I have the technical skills to run and design a site no problems.
I currently have a pretty well paid job (that I hate of course) I'd really like some advice before I decide to take any kind of leap.
Thanks everyone

Finding employment, almost zero.
Starting your own site, pretty low.
If you look at the promotions forum, it's mainly negative, with good reason, if the experienced old timers can't make it work anymore, a newcomer is going to find it almost impossible.
Chances are you'll blow whatever money you have chasing a dream in a market thats in terminal decline.
Better to stay in your decent job, keep video making as a hobby and keep enjoying it. And keep your money rather than bleeding it away on a porn dream doomed to almost certain failure.

Thanks Peter,
harsh but honest advice.
Maybe I should just keep it as a hobby but there has to be money out there to be made. and I am by no means a greedy man. I don't want riches, just a viable income. I'm happy to shoot anything too, feet, balloons, furries , whatever! I just love being behind the camera and am not afraid to go after some of the more niche ideas.
I'm pretty good at getting traffic and understand social networking pretty well, I make a little drinking money already from monetizing various websites, youtube etc and maybe with the right content I could build that up.
I guess I should crack on as I am, build enough content and test the waters. but the full-time job drains me massively.
Anyway, thanks again for your feedback.
P.S., I said the pay was pretty good, didn't say the job was decent lol.

I found that anything fetish sells.
Back in the late 90's when I went from just doing the odd shoot for fun and going into shooting content I was given the advice of anything with either latex, leather, rubber, older, bbw, anything bdsm or slightly on the side of bdsm will sell.
And that proved to be the case.
I didn't want at first to shoot things I wasn't that into but gave it a go and found the photo sets sold well indeed. In fact I still get a few sales on sets dating from 2002.
So perhaps try shooting with a view to selling the content on a content store website? Book a nice model and do a few good sets and try a few things to see what happens. If you get some sales and can get to the level where it starts paying for itself(like I did) then that hobby becomes a whole new game so to speak.

Thanks Nob3y,
That's a positive note, and definitely what I was hoping to hear.
Although the fetish stuff isn't really my thing I love anything to do with sex and cameras, so am more than happy to aim for that arena.
I have a couple of models who I can shoot with who are happy to do the foot stuff and light bdsm. so I'll begin there =)
You mention a content store website, would that be clips4sale , that kind of thing.
Thanks again
