The Wire
Re: The Wire
I found that, I've just watched the boxed set after reading rave reviews on sites like this, but although I enjoyed it, it wasn't really anything like as special as others had raved about.
I didn't really care about any of the characters, the only two I found interesting were Omar and Bubs.

We have need of you again, great king.
Re: The Wire
Exactly the same for me even down to the box set.
Annoys me that "the shield" is far superior and never gets a Look in.

It's not long since watched all 96 episodes of the original 'La Femme Nikita' TV series, which stood up to the test of time rather well. Mobile phones and computers usually kill old shows with 'hi tech' gear, but it didn't in this case.
Each to his own i suppose, I've heard that some people don't like 'Breaking Bad'!

BTW, how long did it take you to realise Snoop was a girl?

Re: The Wire
The Shield is frickin' awesome and I have raved about it years ago. Season 7 was the best finale Ive seen for a series and made the whole 7 seasons make sense.
I ont think it was as popular as The Wire but the genius behind that show is that its cerebral with an intelligent observation of its characters. As bad as some characters are supposed to be they cntradict themselves and the show is never obvious in that some bad guys have redeemable qualities and some good ones have dark streaks and who expected that man on man action complete with face sucking sesh? Whoa! Brave is all I can say. Even if they are actors.
That Omar is great as Chalkie White in Boardwalk Empire too (another great show)

Re: The Wire
Season two did lag a little with The Wire but 3 to 5 were great.
Its a show I will revisit in the next couple years I'm sure

Re: The Wire
Gotta agree with that! Sons of anarchy is very good as written by kurt sutter who also worked on the shield and has shield cast members in it amongst which Walton goggins aka Shane as a tranny!

Played to perfection.
The Irish episodes (season 3?) were poor, but otherwise a great show. Loved The Shield too.
