i have just watched The Sunday Politics and seen Tory chairman Grant Shapps state that one of the good things about Mrs Thatcher was that she acted in the long-term interests of the country.

This would be the same Mrs Thatcher that sold off the gas, electric, trains, phones and Lord knows what else. Selling off the "family silver" as the Lord Stockton put it...

Wasn't it Harold Macmillan who said that? What he and others failed to realise is that it was also the family who were buying it back.

No, the family weren't buying it. How many members of the family own E.On (German), EDF (French), Npower (German), Scottish Power (Spanish) etc etc?
