It wasn't worth it and I have thought for a long time that Blair may not have been personally in favour of the thing - but felt he had no choice. America helped us in the past and now, with 9/11 having happened, it was their hour of need so we would help them. Blair, I think, felt obliged to go along with whatever the Americans wanted post-9/11 but probably confessed to his wife late at night in the Downing Street flat that he wasn't personally in favour. He may admit this one day, when he is about 90.
As for that arsehole George W Bush, the biggest dickhead to run a country in the western world in the last 50 years, he is apparently keeping a low profile in the USA now as he is so hated for what happened with Iraq. There was a feature about this on Newsnight on BBC2 a couple of nights ago. That bell-end Bush is hardly ever seen in public now, he is so loathed by the nation. It's quite an interesting feature, probably still available on i-player.
It's interesting to think that George W Bush has killed many more innocent people than Osama Bin Laden did, yet who are we supposed to hate the most? Personally I hate them both just as much. It's a pity someone doesn't shoot that prick Bush. It's incredible to think he's a religious man, yet he has murdered so many innocent people. It will be an interesting chat that he and St Peter will have at the pearly gates, prior to his elevator descending into the bowels of hell.

It's all his fault...
If this tool had never become the leader of the free world none of it would have happened...

I take it you mean the second Iraq invasion. The first was to free Kuwait from the Iraq invasion. The mistake made there was they stopped too soon, and did not finish the job properly, needing to go in again to fix problems left.
The thing is there was no legal reason to go in again, which is why the WMD myth was invented.
Had they done the job properly the first time it would be a very different story.

Re: Zorro
I take by 'they' you mean the politicians.
Because I can assure you, that we were doing 'the job properly' very fecking quickly and effectively thanks.
We achieved our remit and more, within 100 hours i.e. ejecting Iraqi forces from Kuwait. It was never about invading and capturing the entire country of Iraq. We pushed them back quite a bit, gave them a bit more of a tonking, then retired back to Kuwait/Saudi.
Had the resolution been to completely conquer Iraq in 1991, then it no doubt would have been achieved there and then. It would have been a hard sell to the international community though, as it would have seemed like unnecessary revenge. We'd comprehensively defeated them and they were no longer a threat to their neighbours. Job done.
I agree with the sentiments of others on here though, the invasion of Iraq in 2003, was a. based on lies and b. a disaster.
So glad l left the army in 2002. Unfortunately, I did lose a good friend in 2006, whilst he was serving in Basra, in that illegal occupation of Iraq. So I'm near the front of the queue to bayonet Blair.
