Purgery? I think you need to reconsider your list of acceptable crimes.

Well, perverting the course of justice is a serious crime. I don't see how the fact that he pleaded guilty at the very last minute will help him. He has been lying solidly for a year or two about this. It was only when he realised that the game was up that he came clean.
I thought the few words he said outside the court were typically mealy mouthed i.e. "Now that I have accepted responsibility for something that happened 10 years ago". Whaddya want Chris, a prize?
My guess is that it will be a jail term. It usually is for perjury.
He could always put in a request for compassion and ask to do his porridge in the forthcoming Rupert Murdoch Correctional Centre, a luxurious gaff which is expected to house with any luck, Rebecca Wade and Andy Coulson in the near future.
Apparently the hamper orders have already been placed with Fortnum and Masons.

When you decide to put hands up makes no difference to your sentence which is why you find that every Herbert will go not guilty up until the very last minute.
Would make much more sense to change the system but if course there are plenty of greedy legal firms who want the gravy train to roll on.

Yes, I think that he will almost certainly get sent down, too.
One thing that puzzles me ? the perjury prosecutions only seem to be used against white, middle-aged men. Naomi Campbell perjured herself during her libel suit against the Daily Mirror and was not charged.
People commit perjury every day of the week in every court up and down the land but very, very few ever seem to be brought to book for it.
