Hi all,

i m working in the uni (phd student, loughborough university, uk) in the field of sex industry (porn studies). Me and another colleague are looking at sexual cultures and audiences (cultural studies, media) and are conducting interviews with well known actors in the field (gay and straight industry, in the UK and in Greece).

I would be most grateful if anyone interested, would first check my profile (Despina Chronaki) and then contact me to discuss, and if still interested, to arrange an interview.

These interviews are part of a large scale project that is not related to psychology or journalism. Before posting this topic there was a thorough check of my academic profile from the administrative team of this site.

Greece does not really have an industry but it does have one porn business that runs very well. Me and my colleague have been collaborating with them not just in getting our survey questionnaire out to the public, but also by doing interviews with the producer (Dimitris Sirinakis) and with his actors.

Yes porn studies are a particular field within cultural studies and audience reception studies. The object of these studies is to understand how the audience chooses the content they see, what are the profiles of the users the dominant sexual cultures and trends in content, and also how the industry works.

Do you have to pass a practical exam at the end of the course and what does that consist of?

Thank you for the comment on the fitness of greek girls. Although not all the girls that act in the greek movies and videos necessarily come from Greece, those who do are indeed well fit.

in my case we are talking about a doctorate (so the examination is an oral examination in front of a committee of two academics where you talk about the theory you used, the methods of research (questionnaire, interviews) and the results of the research.

in the case of the students who follow a course about the sex industry, they are required to give either written exams on theory again, or write an essay that in most cases include some kind of research (interviews with actors, or with the audience, or questionnaires with the audience or even a content analysis of material, i.e. movies)
