I watched a programme last night called Don't Blame It On Facebook, and it detailed cases of people who've got into trouble with things they've posted on Facebook and Twitter. It also mentioned the case of a British teenager who works at McDonalds who managed to hack into Facebook. Even though it was a bad thing to do, I was impressed to a certain degree as I would have thought the world's biggest online site would have anti-hacking facilities as strong as the American Defence computer system. You'd think it would be harder to hack into Facebook wouldn't you?

The word hacking has become somewhat diluted, logging in with someone else's name and guessing their password, perhaps even resetting it to do so, is fairly easy if your determined and have the time. Its not like they're typing reams of hexadecimal code and bouncing it around servers looking for an open port in order breach a firewall, or whatever stuff they do in films.

The recent phone hacking scandal is an example of misuse of the term. Calling someones voicemail and pressing 0000 or 1111 is hardly hacking.
