This interview appeared on Channel 4 news last night (Thursday). Quentin Tarantino is in London doing interviews for his new film 'Django Unchained' and appears happy to talk about the film but starts to get irritated when the Channel 4 news presenter asks him about his views on whether violence in films might be linked to violence in society. I thought he was going to storm out at one point. Have a watch, it's an interesting interview. Tarantino is visibly shaking as he is so annoyed.

They're stupid questions he's answered over and over again. I don't blame him.

The UK has higher assault and robbery rates than Sweden and the US, the Swedes have a far higher rape rate than either the UK or US and the US has a far higher murder rate than the UK or Sweden. Yet, we all watch the same films, play the same video games, listen to the same music and watch the same porn........more or less.

I don't see any correlation between violence in the various forms of entertainment we use and actual violence in society.

I agreed with Tarantino. Hes there to sell his film which has nothing to do with the real world per se. Its just entertainment. Not a documentary for the History channel

Besides, he answered the question. Violence is cinematic

The type of person that commits the crime seems to be the same - this is what the common factor is disturbed person. its not the porn its not the fils or the games, if it was then there would be no one left.

So stop blaming the obvious get out - just because little jimmy watched pulp fiction and and then bashed a few out watching some seriously sick porn it didnt make him do it - it was his own inability to differentiate between reality and make believe. This is what caused the issues not the film...

Given that mans written history spans some 2000 years and TV and film has been with us about over 100 years, what did people use to link violence with before? Books?

Fact is, sex and violence are extensions of our personaes and will reflect itself in modern entertainment

That could be said of a lot of film makers. Its not a bad thing in Tarantinos case but would you mind saying what it is about his films that make them all so shite?

Seems he has had an illustrious career thus far as a film maker and whenever a new film comes about there is a buzz and hype that surrounds it

A lot of popular music can be described as shite but the people that buy into it will have their own reasons (or none at all) why they like it.

For me not only is he a fanboy of the genres he recreates but he also satirizes them as well as paying homage by twisting them around which makes it a refreshing change to the cliche. I think this is called artistic license

then again this film is nothing short of genius

one of his best by a long shot and the making of 'THE CLAN' as a bunch of inbred thick caucasians in one of the scenes will make anyone belly laugh i kid you not!

That scene was hilarious though and I agree...The film is nothing short of genius but thats what i like about Tarantino movies, He has his own style. Who cares about historical accuracy in big screen movies? I go to be entertained

I think he's reached the limit of his talents, and can't develop any further. I enjoyed his earlier films, but Inglorious Basterds was rancid shite, and I don't hold out much hope for Django. His idea seems to be along the lines of what would it be like if a 19 century slave behaved like a cool 70s soul brother? In a word, stupid.
