While it is great to see so many winners rewarded I still feel the whole thing is out of date and needs revamped.

"Order of the British Empire".

What year are we living in again? 1853?

Exactly! Wiggins seems uncomfortable with the knighthood and I can't see him using it much.

All a bit farcical really.

A few are deserved, but every time it seems to me like they're deperately scratching around for people to give something to.

"Services to ..." seems to be a bit of a catch-all.

Kate Bush CBE for Services to Music!
Was that sponsored by Earplug manufacturers?

Tracy Emin for Services to the Arts!
Services to the Conservative Party more like.

Margaret Beckett gets to be Dame.

This is the woman who claimed ?600 for hanging baskets on her parliamentary expenses. Also claimed ?70,000 second home allowances for her constituency home while at the time living in grace and favour accommodation in London, renting out her London flat, and having no mortgage payable on her constituency home.

David Tanner (who ?) gets a Knighthood for services to rowing.

Raymond Jerry, a member of the code breaking team at Bletchley Park gets an MBE. A member of a team whose work is generally acknowledged to have shortened the second world war by up to two years gets an MBE.

I think that says it all.

Not uncomfortable enough for him to turn it down, though...

They announced this year they were moving away from awarding these types of honours to business leaders as at the end of the day most were just doing their job and instead awarding more to everyday people who have made an impact.

For me, not enough of a total commitment and 'giving yourself to the cause' is seen in enough of these announcements to be awarded at a national level.

I heard that Danny turned it down... if true then I admire him for that... if Wiggins is so uncomfortable then he SHOULD turn it down... of course he won't.. hes started feeding off the nipple and loving every minute of it!!!

Andy Murray a OBE... for earning ?7 million this year... back of the net!!!
