Cameron to severely tighten internet porn
I see that David Cameron is insisting on anti-porn internet regulations
which go far beyond what his chief advisor who drew up the proposals, a
former head of the Mothers Union, even suggested !!
Whenever I let him, my old sparring-partner, Jim Slip, always tells me how
everyone in Britain loves porn these days and no one gets excited about it.
But Cameron seems a true Tory in that he likes to appear a strong
defender of family values and sexual morality, and clearly, in the good old
days when all of us were scum and fit only for imprisonment, DC would have
been happy to see pornographers in gaol. Its pretty clear he still would.
Re: Cameron to severely tighten internet porn
Hi Frank
As an ex pat of many, many years, it is quite easy for you to see and evaluate the UK through the narrow eyes of the Daily Telegraph. Things have changed. If Cameron is talking about crushing internet porn, he is almost certainly being met by a unanimous yawn from millions, who actually, rather than, "Loving" porn don't give a fuck about mainstream porn, or porn issues any more, other than to have a quick wank at some crap on a pirate tube site. DC is playing to a handful of the blue rinse brigade and as a measure of just how irrelevant whatever DC has said, I have not heard a single word mentioned about it, in spite of having BBC News, SKY, CNN on 24/7. Yes, I am sure they will bring in Opt-in and other measures and I say, "Great!", as I've said many times before, this will just get rid of millions of time wasters and freebie hunters, so good riddance to the lot!
The days of Mary Whitehouse are long gone Frank and the government would be complete fools to attempt to brush aside the enormous continuing abuse scandal and attempt to drag internet porn into the frame once again. It would be pathetic, most people know who the real and present threat is and it is certainly not porn producers.
Frank, from the far flung wastes of Hungary, it might appear to you that porn is still a major issue over here in the UK, alas I am afraid you are wrong. The only time porn is mentioned here, is either when a politician wants a bit of attention or someone on a game show panel wants to take the piss. No one gives a toss!
This of course is a terrible shame for the long term prospects for all of us purveyors of filth!

We can't change the situation and don't kid yourself that Labour would be doing anything different. The truth is they CAN'T shut down porn, FACT! They should do like the Turks do, block all the URL's of pirate tube sites and leave everyone else alone.
The fact is porn is killing itself off far more effectively than any government could ever hope to do. All the markets are shrinking so fast that the government need do nothing at all to see it all disappear in the next 10 years.

Re: Cameron to severely tighten internet porn
Somebody should tell David Cameron that ATVOD is going the wrong way about cleaninng up the internet.
For the sake of appearances it looks like ATVOD are sweeping it under the carpet and standing to attention to tell David Cameron that the jobs done when all this free porn on tube sites and filesharing is just tumbling out of the closets uncontrolled all around them.
This defending the nations children against porn is a smokescreen that will curry favour among the middle class famillies Im sure but meanwhile nothing has been done but add more people to the dole queue.
Good old Emperor Cameron. "Give them 40 days of games and they'll forget the real issues that plague the nation"

Er number6 can you explain your odd comment about wanting homeless people in jail? Why should someone who is vulnerable be sent to jail? The Stasi don't exist anymore.
As for censoring the net I believe this is part of the UN(US) plan to limit free information flowing around the planet without Big Bro type editing. It won't happen, the net is like oxygen, free and readily available.

Re: Cameron to severely tighten internet porn
The freedom of communication facilitated by the net and social networks has played a major roll in exposing the political classes for the lying, cheating, thieving, corrupt, avaricious, hypocritical and perverted bastards they have always been.
ATVOD, prosecutions for "offensive" tweets, libel actions against twitter and its subscribers, like mass email and web search data collection are devices intended to eat away the freedom of the net. CB radio was illegal in this country until the 80s. Radio hams are only allowed to discuss amateur radio and we only have mobile phones because it is so lucrative and all calls can be traced and monitored.
As for protecting children from pervs....
and then there's this....

Re: Cameron to severely tighten internet porn
I'm with you Milton. This attacking of the porn industry and the sexualisation of children leads me to believe its more than just porn. Its being used to maintain some control at a local level.
Im all for responsibility and restricting content from the view of minors but I've noticed every seemingly good natured act leads to something more sinister

100% concur. "Anti-terror" laws being used by councils to monitor the contents of your dustbin for example, and to fine dog-owners whose dogs crap on pavements.
And on the porn front, things like the Jane Longhurst so-called "extreme porn" laws that criminalise films and photos of sexual activities that are perfectly legal.
I don't view much Web porn these days anyway, but if they bring in "opt-in" that will be the end of it for me altogether and I'll stick to DVDs if I feel like a porn fix.
Even though I've never viewed anything illegal, I still don't fancy the idea of declaring to my ISP that "I AM A CONSUMER OF PORN AND I WANT TO OPT IN" because who knows what kind of 'watch list' opters-in will end up on and be classed as 'deviants' at some point down the line - if not by this lot then surely by the post-2015 Labour government, which will be dominated by strident, man-hating / porn-hating prudes like Harriet Harperson.
Opt in and your card will be marked at some stage, you can be sure of it.
