It would probably be a good idea if you start eating this stuff now Argie, so it is not so much of a shock when you get shipped to the Easterhouse Immigrant Reception Centre prior to relocation to a tower block shared with Rumanians.

No, not at all. Basically I use this forum to try out my ideas, thoughts etc.
It is like a sounding board. It is the only internet access I post on other than emails to mates.
Besides I am just providing helpful information to Argie as to how he might integrate as a displaced immigrant from England into Scottish society.
Like a lot of immigrants I suspect he is in denial at the moment - a bit of a half Scottish refugee. I suspect he will try to use Human Rights legislation to stay in England on the basis of rights to family life. However, I think Teresa May is wise to all that malarkey now.
I am hoping that when they have rehoused him in a tenement block in Easterhouse I will be able to send a food parcel e.g. Cornish pasties, Stilton cheese, Cox's Orange Pippins, Scrumpy cider etc so that he isn't too homesick.
!wink!

English refugees in Scotland? That's a worrying thought. By the middle of this century they might make up half the population you know! lol.

I'll take the pasties and pass on the rest!! You will struggle to find a lot of tenements in Glasgow as they were modernised by the Luftwaffe or knocked down and replaced with Hi Rise Slums in the 60s.
I have no idea where the integration stuff comes from DJ I was born in England and have never worn a kilt. I love Scotland, they have made many great medical and engineering advances, invented Golf, wrote some brilliant literature, The Beano and People's Friend in particular, and I am quite partial to Carol Smillie and Carol Kirkwood! On a downside my dad did own a Chrysler that was built in Scotland, 16000 miles and we got a new one off them it was so badly made. One of my female colleagues is a tad Caledonian and has the most stunning curvy figure a man could desire plus her blouses are always a size too tight......anyway my mother has described Salmond as ranting like Adolf Hitler so I guess she is not keen on the SNP either.
Work beckons, something that is alien to many Labor voters.

I think you are in self denial, a bit like Abu Hamza was.
Basically you are half Scottish due to your mother, I think. Now why did she come to England? There are loads of other countries where they speak English. She could have gone to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands etc. But no she came to England.
Why is that? To be frank it is because of the fantastic array of world class benefits we have here.
Now given Scotland will have to apply for EU membership then you and your mum will no longer have the right of abode in England and will more than likely be shipped northwards across the border.
But fear not, I am setting up a campaign on your behalf. The provisional name based on your use of Cumbrian slang is "Free the Bum Chum 1". The advantage of this title is that we can get Peter Tatchell to help you out with demonstrations. News that I feel you will be delighted by.
Don't worry Argie, we will do what we can to stop you going on the cattle truck northwards to Scotland.

Er DJ my mother came to England because her dad needed a job. She has never claimed a penny of state benefit due to working hard, having her own pension and ye godz some savings. She is an oddity mind as doesn't eat haggis, neeps n tatties, deep fried Mars Bars and cannot stand the smell never mind taste of Whiskey. Her only Caledonian trait is a strange unwillingness to part with cash.

Ah well Argie, I admire your determination to keep in England, but I suspect it is a forlorn hope.
If Alex "Braveheart" Salmond wins independence you will be in the same legal position as a Pakistani or Bangladeshi living here because Scotland will not be a member of the EU until their joining has been authorised by the EU and all its member states and that will take years.
So it will then be down to how many points full Scottish and half Scottish people like you have. Now forgive me, Argie for pointing it out, but working in a Housing Association is a glorified public sector job. It isn't a proper private sector job like the one I did all my life and funded people like yourself.
So as a result I suspect Call me Dave, Boy George and Teresa "THunderthighs" May will only give you one point for this, mainly because at least you are not unemployed.
So Argie my advice to you is that as a Tory supporter, unlike turkeys voting for Xmas, you should change allegiance and vote Labour.
It's your only chance of survival south of the border in this sceptred isle, matey. Otherwise I can only see a minimum wage job planting marram grass in Trump International Golf Links for your good self.
Think on, bum chum!

I suspect Arginald would rather eat his own face than vote Labour.
