I can realise in a way why they posted Bridger's picture.

Rightly or wrongly, the police and CPS appear to have convinced themselves that they have sufficient evidence to charge him.

No idea what that evidence is though given:

1. Apparently, the girl had previously ridden in his vehicle so unless it contains blood stains or whatever, I can't see how useful forensics would be.

2. He doesn't appear to have confessed given they are still looking in a variety of locations for the body e.g. river, mineshafts etc. Or he has confessed but not told them where the body is.

Anyway, having convinced themselves that he abducted April Jones it made sense to show a picture to try and jog people's memory about his movements in a desperate attempt to find April alive.

If the police are wrong, then this guy's life will have been ruined completely.

Can you provide some links to news stories about young ethnic minority kids going missing? The fact you appear to have heard about them means the incidents must have got some publicity.

I remember when a young British Asian girl was shot accidentally when two hoodies held up a shop in south London. She is in a wheelchair for life, a tragice terrible theing, and the scumbags who did it are now it jail. That got huge publicity earlier this year.

One thing I would say is that I was surprised at how little coverage the murder of a young black lad in south London got recently. The kid was only 14 or 15 and I think there is a girl in custody for his murder. This was about 3rd or 4th story on the London evening news, it didn't even make the national news.

So perhaps you are right to a certain extent about the differing levels of courage from one race to another. The authorities do look at black-on-black crime differntly though, I am not saying it is right that they do - but they do. They have a special department at the Met for dealing with it, called Operation Trident.

Trial by TV again. Same as the landlord who was accused of murdering that girl in Bristol last year, found not guilty but reputation destroyed.

That's right. I forgot about that. It was her boyfriend the whole time and his life will be forever damaged by media.

It became clear after the two police officers were killed a couple of weeks back, that Dale Cregan's previous murders/attacks hadn't made the national news. Until that is, that fateful day.
And he and his crew were shooting people and lobbing grenades for months, like it was going out of fashion!

I remember one of the national news readers asking the reporter on the ground, 'why are we (the nation) are only hearing of these attacks now?'
When, in reality, their antics had been presented on our local news for the last two months or so.

There are trolls and there are trolls.... This case is horrendous indeed a five year old is taken in broad daylight and they tried to save her to find her before she was killed. There is no body and we can only wait and see what happens what comes out of this -

But you decide to make it a race issue - you decide to try and twist this - shame on you. I hope none of your family ever have to deal with this sort of incident. I also believe that it wouldnt have mattered what colour the child was in this area it would have had the same result and the same local involvement from the public. Its a rural community thats close and they react to things in this way.

The original post wasn't about local reaction, it was about what makes it to national conciousness.
