Manchester Police

Post by william »

Is it time to have a rethink on the laws in this country ?

After events yesterday with the killing of two unarmed police women should we not be thinking of

i) Re introducing the death penalty for the killing of any police officer carrying out there duties ? either by shooting or any other means ?

ii) arm the police with a bit more than pepper spray and a batton - give em the equipment to manage such a situation quickly and cleanly. Yes if it means being able to shoot by all means let them. The less scrotes out there the better in my opinion.

Two women went out to work yesterday and are never going home, one was getting married, imagine the lives altered by these events yesterday and think on just maybe if our police had been armed then we may still have the likes of these two offices alive today, PC Rathborne would still be an unknown guy plodding the beat and probably giving some poor punter three points and 60 quid fine for yabbing on a phone on the newcastle bypass instead of being shot and blinded on a roundabout above it months back.

Wed should have persued that guy in the embassy that shot Yevonne Fletcher and did him for murder and then executed him. simples. You mess with the law then you take the consequences, you kill them then you will be found and tasken away and killed.

You have no right to live if you kill someone one.

Death Penalty for all, no special case needed for coppers only.

Fine in theory, in practice, the police can't be trusted to use the laws properly, and we've seen how far they'll go to cover up their mistakes recently (Harwood, Hillsborough) so giving them guns wouldn't be a good idea without a better recruitment policy.

We have need of you again, great king.

This was a despicable, disgusting case involving someone who acted like a lunatic.

RIP the two, unarmed policewomen.

Peter, read your two sentences again:

"Death Penalty for all, no special case needed for coppers only."

"Fine in theory, in practice, the police can't be trusted to use the laws properly, and we've seen how far they'll go to cover up their mistakes recently (Harwood, Hillsborough) so giving them guns wouldn't be a good idea without a better recruitment policy."

Surely you aren't so thick that you can't see the contradiction? If "police can't be trusted to use the laws properly" we don't want them fitting people up for "Death Penalty for all, no special case needed for coppers only".

At least with a life term, there is the opportunity to appeal dodgy police evidence and coverups etc etc.

William. As far as I am aware, the police do not want to be routinely armed.

I know plenty of our local force and they are almost to man / woman against being armed. Mate left the Anti Terrorist Squad years ago because he hated carrying a gun. Arm the Police and the criminals will simply up the ante....

American Police are armed yet you still get a lot of Police deaths in the USA. If the two Police women in Manchester were armed they would not have had their weapons drawn yesterday as they were attending what what reported as a domestic burglary. Their guns would have been in their holsters with the popper flap thing over the top holding the gun in place. They would have been shot before they knew what was happening - before they had a chance to draw. Being armed, sadly, would not have stopped what happened yesterday in Manchester. RIP the two Police ladies.

sadly the majority of British Police officers are not intelligent enough to carry side arms... if you want to arm them you need to start with the new recruits and build from there...

Don't forget that due to the politically correct lot that to be a British Bobby has the lowest entrance requirements in the G8, that includes basic maths, English, fitness, height, build and health... to name but a few..

For example here in Switzerland ALL male police officers have to be over 1.82m high, pass an written aptitude test, intense fitness tests and importantly, as they carry side arms, pass a evaluation test for carrying such a deadly piece of kit...

They also get some of their best officers from the army, national service is still in force here!

Valid point Von Boy. I know plenty of current coppers who went into the job purely because it pays well. Letting some of them loose with a Walther or Glock would scare me more than the criminals!

Good idea. Lets create an arms race between the law and criminals. I mean, what can go wrong?

They get some of their best officers from the army do they. That famous, tried and tested, highly elite fighting force, that is the Swiss army.

Their Officers Mess walls groan under the weight of all those battle honours !wink!

Many of our Police Officers are ex military as well, as I am and I'd much prefer for them to come to my rescue, than one of those 'best' Swiss Officers, that may have spent a couple of years playing soldier.
