never thought we'd see a brit win a major singles title but after all his disappointments he's done it! What a match, the "old" murray would have crumbled when djocovic came back from 2 sets down but not this time.Whatever next , England to win the 2014 world cup...maybe not.

But is he happy?! I had a hunch he would win after he won the gold in London.
I think Lendl has injected some steel into his backbone.

Fantastic and at long last after years and years of disappointments with the likes of Murray and Henman choking over the years! Only 76 years of waiting for a British grand slam winner.
Looked like he had crumbled from two sets up last night, but he did great to come back in the 5th.
I agree with Argie that Lendl seems to have helped him to play more aggressively and it is no coincidence that with Lendl in the team he has had the Olympic win and now this.
Now that he has got this monkey off his back, I would be really surprised if this is his only grand slam victory.
Well done, Andy Murray.

I see this label given to him over and over
Yet the guys who have beaten him are possibly 3 of the greatest players who have ever played the game
Quite ironic that Lendl lost his first 4 finals same as Murray
yet i never heard anyone call Lendl a choker at that time
He was simply beaten by better players on the day
same as Murray
I've been saying for eons the world number 4 ranking isnt made for chokers
He beats plenty of quality players every year just not the top 3 all that often
in Grand Slams
Heres hoping this 2nd win, lets not forget the Olympics is the beginning of a few more wins in what ever tournament over the big 3

Wouldn't bet against him winning Wimbledon now. If not next year, certainly at some point.
Pleased to see Murray win. Djokovic very gracious in defeat as well, so respect to him as well.

I think you are confusing talent with being a choker.
Murray has had the talent to win a Grand Slam for years. He is up on Federer in terms of career wins against him and level with Djokovic so clearly Murray has the talent.
However until last night that talent never converted into victory where it really mattered in a Grand Slam. Until his fourth Grand Slam loss at Wimbledon this year, Murray had played so far below his best in the finals that he hadn't even won a set. Before last night he had only won one set in total in four Grand Slam finals against players that he had either a similar or better career record against.
The reason for this is generally viewed as a mental one in terms of not being able to play your best when it mattered and in Murray's case he was extremely subdued and defensive in those finals though the Wimbledon final so a marked improvement.
That is why he was called a choker which is a reasonable description in the circumstances. And this was the same description given to Lendl until he finally won his first Slam. What has helped Murray change is having an adviser like Lendl who has been through a very similar career situation.

Yep, he's playing at the wrong time, if he'd have been around in the Henman era, he'd have had several slams by now, on Sampras would have bested him.
Right now he, and the other 3, have to win two finals to take down a slam.

He does lack the ability to kill on decisive points. You can't miss break points running into double figures against DJoco, and expect to beat him regularly. Hopefully Ivan will be working on that. But if you notice, the number of times Murray is up a break, serving for the set and drops his serve is horrendous. Not being able to kill out is his big problem. I hope they sort it out, and he'll take down a couple more slams.

He might have appeared a bit more pleased to have won.

With Nadal injured and Federer on the way out Murray can win several more grand slams. But he really needs to cheer up!!
