A Labour man through and through, his life was framed by the experience of having a father who lost a leg and an eye in the First World War and returned to Britain to get no help or support, whatsoever.

The first Disability Minister in the UK. Brought in the first disability rights legislation and introduced benefits for the disabled and their carers including a mobility allowance.

As well you should. That was proper nasty for no reason what so ever. In fact I would go as far as to say it was disgraceful and you should be ashamed.

RIP Alf Morris. Perhaps the last of the decent Labour sorts who still remebered and believed in Atlee's great plan. The world of politics is worse for his passing.

His death had slipped under my Radar. Thank you No 6 for bringing to my attention.
