Fascinating documentary by Julien Temple putting together 2 hours of archive footage to provide a social history of London from the start of the 20th century through to today.
On the iplayer now. Definitely worth a watch.

I saw most of it last night, very interesting.
The beach on the Thames by the Tower of London was interesting. Making sandcastles and swimming across the river from one side to the other.
It showed a very differnt London compared to now, you heard people speaking English in the street back then - unlike today.

"you heard people speaking English in the street back then - unlike today."
Really? I was in central London a couple of months ago and heard people speaking English wherever I went.
You haven't been spending all your time in the Southall Sari Centre and Khan's Spice Emporium have you?

Remember lads London is not the be all and end all. Haven't been there for 17 years and no real rush to get back. Rude, loud, expensive, cramped...I'll take Cumbria any day.

all that life hath to offer." - Samuel Johnson on 18th century London.
