Do adult models need decent portfolio pictures?

Mainstream models usually build portfolios that show their 'range' and tend to choose to display images that make them look their best, but I've noticed - from my extensive researching of adult portfolio sites (!) - that many adult models don't seem to be bothered about the quality of pictures that they post on their profiles.
Does having decent portfolio pictures make a difference to the amount of work an adult model gets or doesn't it matter so long as the pictures posted show nudity and/or a sex act?
Is the only reason for posting pictures to prove that the model is real, and not an internet troll?
Just curious, as I will only post pictures online that I'm proud of, that will show my paltry photographic abilities in their best light, so I'm surprised when other people choose any old snapshot/phone pic to advertise themselves.
Thoughts?

I just need a simple picture to show me what they look like, not what some photographer, make-up artist and photoshop whizz-kid has turned them into. As such, I'll often ask models to supply 'doctor shots' simple, standing shots of the front, sides and rear, so I can see what they look like in reality, and if they have any markings they 'forgot' to mention. I'm quite happy for the models to shoot these on a phone cam as long as they're reasonable quality.
Other pictures are fine for a portfolio, but they're just froth.
The only exception to this is when a model is claiming a unique ability, (get both legs behind her neck, etc) then I may ask for a proof shot of that if it's important to my shoot.

Correct they don't need portfolios anymore it seems.

Not judging by some of the appalling pictures on Air, they don't.

If a model wants to show they are serious I need to see they have put a some thought into both the photos used and the wording of their profile.
Assuming the model has done a few shoots I would expect a profile to contain photos showing several styles, to include full length nude and to have been chosen so they all angles are shown.
Of course new models have to start somewhere but IMO to show they are serious they need to post better than a couple of self-shot mobile phone photos using the bedroom / bathroom mirror. At a push these are OK for full length nude so long as they also upload other photos even if holiday snaps that show they are happy posing for the camera.
There are numerous profiles where the model has been very careful not to use photos from a certain angle so a pot belly, tattoos etc. are not seen.
If I have any doubt I ask for recent full length nude photos and if they are not quickly supplied I assume the prospective model has something to hide.

A selection of decent images by recognised togs does tend to indicate a model is serious about her work.
I tend to avoid working with beginners who have been too mean, or just not serious enough, to arrange a TFCD shoot with a serious tog, so as to provide decent material for her/his profile.

Is this a ploy to get them to do TFP?
I think a lot of models get freebie pics thrown in from paid jobs from togs who are already very good at what they do
However it is at the discretion of every model what they decide to do. I would have thought they would prefer to get paid mainly

No, not a ploy, but it is partly based on my experience of occasionally advertising that I do TFP shoots and getting little or no interest from adult-type models.
My point was more that, regardless of where they get the pictures from, many adult models seem only to post grainy phone/webcam snaps to advertise themselves. My question was whether that makes a difference to people booking them.
From the comments above it would seem that, by and large, it doesn't matter.
