Fantastic achievement by NASA getting this droid onto the surface of Mars. When I see this I think of how realistic 'Promethius' could be, we simply can't be the only form of life in the universe, this really could be the start of deep space exploration, the type of which we have only seen in films. Apparently it takes 15 mins for the images to travel back to earth, I only hope when they roll that baby up the side of the big crater it landed in, they don't find Macca playing 'hey Jude'.

It's a scandal how much we spend on science in the UK. 0.55% of GDP is spent on research and development while the USA (0.77%), Germany (0.71%) and France (0.81%) spend 40-60% more. Despite this we contribute to 14% of the world's high-impact citations in science. We're really really good at it and could be a world leader if we doubled the investment.
We should be doing stuff like this.
