So obvious, who'd fall for it?

Post by andy at handiwork »

Interesting piece in the i recently about why internet scam emails, 'Nigerian scams', are usually so obviously far-fetched. Rather than being stupid themselves, the scammers only want to engage the most gullible and naive, so they frame the emails in such a way that those people who are in any way aware of what's going on dont clog up the inbox and waste the scammers time. It would appear that blatancy is the most profitable and time-efficient method for them.
