"Surely no-one can be that stupid????"

Sadly, I am.

An interesting, general question.

I am not going to make any comment about Mr. Tranmere other than to say:

1. I enjoy reading his posts even though I don't always agree with him.
2. It would be good if he posted more, in particular his media posts e.g. what's on tele, film
3. As to whether Max is a wind-up, I have absolutely no idea. My guess is not.

To guess if someone is on a wind-up mission is very difficult on the Internet, unless you can spot:

1. A complete inconsistency in their posts i.e. some sound if the poster is very bright, others make it look like he/she is a complete pillock.
2. Get some corroborating evidence from another site where they might have their guard down.

When I first started to use the O/T Forum, I used to think, Jesus there are some people on here who are as thick as pig shit. Surely they can't be that thick? I am not going to mention any names. Well almost none, anway! !wink!

But then as part of a contract I was doing in London I started travelling around on buses, tubes and trains as opposed to in the car. Usually it is the car. And as I earwigged conversations going on, I realised that yep there were people out there who make pig shit look like Einstein's brain matter. And then I started travelling on buses and trams in Blackpool, particularly if I was out for a night on the ale. Likewise! Lots of bright, funny people out there, but also lots of planks.

What seemed to denote these pillocks and group them together was:

1. Having an opinion and thinking that because it is their opinion, they must be correct. And that everyone who disagrees is obviously a useless tosser.

2. Because their opinion is definitely correct, there is absolutely no point in trying to explain why they believe what they do. So anything which could remotely be described as a fact, tended not to drop from their lips. What you got was a pile of prejudice which fitted in with their generally, gloomy take on their life and lives in general. Obviously anythng resembling a fact which disagreed with their view was viewed with huge reticence as "spin"!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. Being very quick to anger, when people pull their argument to bits with things that could be termed "independent facts". The reason for this anger is that given they have no understanding of the "facts" unless they can dig something out of a tabloid that sounds 'orrible, going off on one is all they have left. These people tend to rant and rave endlessly contradicting themselves endlessly and endlessly misinterpreting the views of the person who they rave against.

David, I find your posts in general fairly informative but you do tend towards the first behaviour you have described above ie you are pretty much certain your views are entirely 100% total fact!
I would suggest your blind loyalty to new Labour proves my argument on that one. (See what I did there?)
As for Max, it is the sheer inane drivel that he posts which makes him sound like a border collie who can type! Nothing especially offensive just stuff that makes me sigh and wish natural selection would hurry up and put him out of his misery!

I certainly do.

I am, of course, Tony Blair's biggest supporter in the western world, if not the galaxy, irrespective of whatever I post to the contrary.

Nah Andy just read one too many of Max's posts this morning and went in to rant mode! I have enough friends in the real world no need for a cyber fan club! Thanks for reading though.

They have indeed, and as Wilde wrote, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
