Probably the usual over reaction by people having to justify their powers to disrupt our lives.

Yes indeed, it looks like it may have been just someone who spilt boiling water on his hand, while pouring it into his Pot Noodles. He screamed, "Aaargh" with pain, which other passengers miss heard as , "Allaaaah!" and all Hell broke loose!!wink!

So no crazed nutter on M6 coach then. When will we stop being afraid of our shadows, as we have reached a situation when any and everything can be construed by someone as 'suspicious'? And I bet none of the passangers held at gunpoint by the police for several hours received so much as a 'sorry and mind how you go' from Staffordshire's finest.

Yep, on the one hand, I guess we would be critical if police didn't respond to reports of "suspicious actvity" if something dreadful had then occurred.

On the other, it would be sensible to try and identify what was going on in the bus, before deploying the sort of resources that you would more likely see when a 747 came down.

It's almost as if they took the opportunity of a dry run, what with the Olympics just around the corner.

Yes, I agree. What is strange is how they managed to get the whole anti terror infrastructure in place so fast. Its almost like it was an excercise. The authorities had a rough idea where the "Attack" would take place and no more. For example at a max speed of 65 MPH, the MOD logistics truck could have taken hours to arrive, quite convenient it arrived so promptly.

It could also be part of reminding us all that Bush & Blair's, so called, "War on Terror" is always with us and the CIA's invented bogey man, "Al Quaeda" stalks us all day and night!

Apparently he was just making a brew, then out of nowhere the 'beverage' police arrived.

Err, wasn't it you that started this thread with "Crazed nutter on M6 coach"? Or did I just imagine that?

Do you think that the only way they can do a realistic exercise is to stop a bunch of innocent coach passengers on a trip from Preston, guard them wtih automatic weapons for hours and close the M6 toll road?

How about bus on military airfield, full of squaddies with news of a passenger acting suspiciously?
