Just saw the new Ridley Scott "Alien" prequel - "Prometheus" - and thought
it damn good. Stunningly beautiful to look at, especially in 3D (Scott, like
Scorsese with "Hugo", knows how to use 3D to best effect), some
interesting ideas about where we all come from, enough action and scares
to please most people. Much as I liked "Alien", it was basically a big "boo!"
of a film set in the confines of a spaceship. "Prometheus", spectacularly
shows another world.....and those slimy monsters have never looked
nastier !

Good but not that good. Concept was there but the actual film just lacked a bit of excitement and action.

I saw it in 3D, and thought it was great, I'm sure the 3D made it for me as the storyline is not quite as good as alien2, but I liked it a lot, and would like to see it again, but only in 3D.

Thanks for that show of positivity guys. Ive just been reading so many mixed reviews that I was wondering if it was good or not.
Sounds like Ridley Scott took the franchise out of its comfort zone and still did something interesting with it other than just made it a sequel or prequel.
Its not a prequel! Its a stand alone movie

Anything with aliens in it or involving the invasion of Earth, I will almost always enjoy, so I am looking forward to seeing this!

Ms Liz and I both saw the same film in 3D, but afterwards whilst having a drink, she said, "Oh! I didn't see that", "Oh! really, I didn't notice that.....I said, "It was as though you were standing on the bridge with the crew when the ship landed", she said, "Really! I didn't notice that" So, I wondered if some people are just incapable from seeing in 3D, or maybe she was just masturbating throughout the whole movie....sheesh, women, gotta love 'em.

Spot on with the review Frank
I saw the film at the IMAX yesterday and left feeling what an awesome film I had just watched
If the technology was around back then I feel this would have been the movie Ridley wanted to make and agree that this movie surpasses the original in many ways
Top film!!!!

I am, I can force myself to go 3D, but it's something I really have to concentrate on, I can't see 3D when vision becomes a 'background task'. I think it may be to do with me having two different eye problems, long sight in one eye, astigmatism in the other, which has lead me to become very left-eye dominant.

I might give it a look if I can be bothered. But lets be honest, the two movies worth seeing is the avengers and the dark knight rises. Fucking finally Bane as the mastermind he is instead of a shitty wrestler playing a dumb lackey to poison ivy

Saw the new trailer to the Dark Knight Rises and it looks very exciting.
Good luck booking a ticket at the BFI IMAX to see it though
