Studio Janor... memories

Post by Von Boy »

Anyone have any memories of the the Studio Janor in the East Midlands?? and the late Norman Pacey...

As far as I remember it was a very busy and productive studio in its hey day!

Never used it, but from what I heard it was well run, he understood his customers needs and catered for them.

Although I think he was single-handedly (although inadvertently ) responsible for for the whole 'paying for a model release' bullshit we still get to this day!

We have need of you again, great king.

Norman was a good bloke. I used the studio a number of times when working in Loughborough. Teresa Scott was around quite a bit at the studio working on her site as I recall.

I agree with Peter - a well run studio, though I don't remember any of the "paying for a model release" stuff.

Nor me David, don't remember the model release issue,

I used it a fair number of times in the 90's.
Shooting Teresa Scott, Adele Stephens, Emma Morgan, to name a few. I also seem to remember Teresa being a semi-permanent fixture.

A well run studio, plenty of brews supplied.

My and some of the models', only issue, albeit a minor one, was that they never changed/redecorated any of the rooms, in the few years that I or those models were using it.

Happy memories though. !thumbsup!

I did say inadvertently, they had an amateur rate, for people who just wanted to take some pictures, and a higher pro. rate, for people who wanted to publish/sell. The only difference was you got a model release with the higher rate, so many people assumed they were buying/paying for a model release with the extra money.

I had a few models tell me, "you have to pay for a release at Janor", when in reality they were just being paid a higher hourly rate.

Studio Janor was excellent, and both Norman and Janet were lovely people

It did help that the studio was only half hour from me.

Also Norman used to bring some top models up to a group shoot I used to attend in Nottingham.

I used to go to their modelling days at the studio, where they had many famous models up for the weekend in one hour slots, to give a number of togs the chance of a shoot with them.

Here are a few of them for anyone who is interested...

Adele Stephens,
Sammy Marshall
Hayley Russell
Natasha Lester
Lana Cox
Vida Garman
Joanne Bache
Anne Marie Kyte
Rachel Travis
Teresa May
Donna Jackson
Katie Ann Day
Michelle Thorne
Donna Marie
Jasmine De-Launay
Michelle B

To name just a few.
I don't know how many will still be remembered.

It's a great pity that apart from Greengate, studios don't seem to do modelling days anymore

Ps.
If I remember correctly I beleive David once booked the studio for a day and shot four models.

Oh happy days.

Nice memories nikonman ....

I always recognise the sets at Janor...

School room
Sofa... with the painted background
Bed with shiny frame
Dungeon with cross
Cushions
and that famous Bath...

I just wonder how many females, professional and amateur
have been photographed naked at Janor??

I don't suppose anyone's got any photos of Joanne Bache from the sessions at Studio Janor? (or anywhere else).

Cheers
