No matter how he told that one it was out of order, but in the 1970's when it was trendy and acceptable to tell those kind of jokes no one seemed to mind.

Nobody seemed to mind?

I did, as it was a lazy, stupid and illogical gag that doesn't work on any level except unpleasantly racist.

That said, I worked with him some years ago at a commercial do he was the comic for, and he was riotously funny from the start of rehearsals to the curtain down at the end of the evening.

Not at all Jim, because for the whole day he didn't feel it necessary to get laughs from material that was beneath his talent.

He told jokes about the Irish too and it was while the IRA were carrying out the bombings
