It seems that all Managers are twats
Re: It seems that all Managers are twats
Many don't understand the difference between leadership and management and they're over reliant on and give too great a priority to the spreadsheet. Cherry-pick the bits of the job that they're confident they can do and the bits that might reflect well on them and bale out on the challenging bits. They're motivated by the car parking space and the sense of validation they get from telling other people they're a manager. To sum-up, yes men and bluffers !

Fuck em, it's only work why get stressed out over it? just laugh at your manager and walk off.
Re: It seems that all Managers are twats
I worked for a company that had some exceptionally good managers.
Prior to that I worked for a company with some real shyte managers and directors and was glad when I was made redundant. They went down the tubes 2 years later. Incompetent bastards. Those left behind suffered. I was lucky when I went to a good company where the good managers were ex service warrant officers.
My present company has some good and some indifferent. My area manager is a diamond and I am glad I am in his area and not an area next door whose area manager is a tosspot.
All of the good managers I have come across seem to be ex service. As a SNCO I was well aware of how to get the best out of my men. Having been a nobody I and other nobodies determined that when we made senior rank we would not make the mistakes of the crap NCOs. This is one advantage that the services have over civvy street. All start at the bottom and work their way up. Even officers. A 2nd Lt is the lowest form of pond life and has shit thrown at him by senior officers and NCOs alike. He has to prove his worth to merit any advancement. In my experience I would say that our armed services have some of the best leadership of any service, though I did meet a couple of wankers I wouldn't follow. Most I would follow anywhere.

As I said, some are crap, not all. Most I have come across are pretty good.
Most black hand gang trades were good man managers. Electronic trade types were pretty poor man managers. But, again, that is in my experience. I'm sure that there are some electronic types who are good at man management.
