I'm thinking of splashing out and getting one. Anybody on here got one? I would want it for its video abilities primarily and I know the extras can add up, but even then its cheaper than a straightforward video camera of similar picture quality.

Indeed. Among the extras will be a good zoom such as the Canon EF 24-105mm as well as a few primes. Additionally there's the cage/15mm bars/matte box/follow focus rig as well, but as ever there's a company in India under-cutting the hugely expensive American set-ups. Got a great video tripod already. The shallow depth is one of the reasons for getting it; that and the fact that a lot of job ads I see these days want 5D ownership or experience.

Lets meet up and discuss over a jar or two this week Andy. You can also discuss this on UKAPs new tech forum
The 5D mk2 is being discussed already as it is being used by several producers already

Given all the add ons you need to make this camera work efficiently, sound, monitor, stabilising rig you may as well consider one of the new camcorder equivalents coming out from Sony and Panasonic
You coming to the BVE? They will be unveiled there so bring your cheque book !happy!
