Has over 5000 followers within 24 hours, do you want to be in his gang?

Must say I find it odd how other big names in rock who have done exqactly what he has done seem to have had it airbrushed from history, the editorial teams at the Sun and Mail will be loving this turn of events.

Is it certain that it's actually him? I've not looked but it could be someone claiming to be him. If it is, and it becomes widely known, look out for The Sun newspaper's front page headline of: FAT BALD EVIL PERVERT MAKES COMEBACK!

But can he ever be forgiven, and make a come back? I notice sex offender Pete Townshend has never had a problem, when arrested they called him Mr Townshend at the police station and one officer offer him a cup, is this one rule for one and another if you are Gary Glitter?

What was it Townsend did then? Never been a fan of his and never took much notice of what he did.
There are certain people that nothing can be written about them that I want to read or anything said about them that I want to listen to. Clary, Feltz, Milliband, Kinnock, Black, Parkinson to name just a few.

Pete Townsend apparently looked up some nasty things online as part of what he claimed was research into (I think) a book he was writing. He was interviewed by the Police over it but as far as I'm aware nothing more came of it. Townsend has said several times that he may have had things done to him as a child, but only has a vague recollection, and the things that may have happened could have influened certain elements of the character "Tommy" in the rock opera he wrote. Things to do with that character just came to his mind as he wrote them, but things from deep in his mind that he put into the character may have been subtely influenced by things which may have happened to him. I hope this makes sense! A number of writers claim that things they write come from their subconcious - Paul McCartney always said that the song 'Yesterday' came from his subconcious. He was dreaming about his late mother, he woke up and there was the song. He said in an interview "I didn't write it, my subconcious mind wrote it".

Pete Townshend used his credit card(that is how the police caught him) to access a child pornography site on the internet.

I was a huge fan of Pete Townshend and i love The Who, they are one of the greatest bands of all time.

It is correct the earlier post from Max stating that Townshend suffered sexual abuse at a young age, though he claims it wasn't just straight sex and that while writing his biography he wanted to check on things that had happened and see if they constituted child abuse. Apparantly it was as little as 10 photo's he viewed and they were deemed to be of the lowest category of child pornography. You are also correct in stating that he used his credit card to view them and thats what led police to him.

While its seems the authorities believed his story and there has been no press vitriol it seems like it was a mistake. But as much as i'm a fan of Townshend, something about it doesn't ring true? I'm not sure, i don't justify and neither does any sane minded person any form of child abuse, paedophelia or child pornography, and for the life of me i don't see how he needed to look at a child being abused to see if it equated to his experiences. Apart from the fact he gave paedophiles money to continue running their sick site, and although the authorities deemed them to be the lowest category child pornography, how did he know that? How would he know what was going to come up and what unimaginable suffering some child had been put through.

In regards to Glitter, it would be interesting to know if it really is him? And what i would like to know, is it even legal for him to use a computer? Or has he got round this by using Twitter on his phone?
