Praise the Beeb

Watched the three part adaptation of Great Expectations over the Xmas period. Great stuff from the start with Ray Winstone raising himself up from the slime of the marshes.

Followed by the excellent Mystery of Edwin Drood.

Got a DVD out of the Andrew Davies adaptation of Bleak House made in 2006. 8 hours of sheer brilliance. As it says on the tin, soap opera as high art.

And finally anybody even vaguely interested in photography, lighting, staging sets etc etc should cast their eye over the new series on the Beeb Call the Midwive. Not my personal cup of tea, content-wise but it looks absolutely stunning with an incredible, meticulous attention to detail.

Praise be the Beeb.

Piss off Murdoch.

Cheers

This is funny because the Beeb can't win, New Labour supporters always accuse it of being Tory and Tory supporters aways accuse it of being New Labour!

The truth of the matter is that given the chance both parties would shoot the BBC management and install their own cronies to run the Beeb, but luckily for us that would be illegal!!wink!

As far as I know the last person who was in bed with a media mogul was Tony Blair with Murdoch? So you could argue that at the time both Sky and The Sun were New Labour mouthpieces!

Sky+ed Great Expectations but not had time to watch it yet. Dunno where British tv would be without the beeb.

It would so shit that "Shit" itself would say, "God isn't TV a load of SHIT!" That's where we'd be without the BBC! However , I do find Dickens a little depressing to say the least!

Have you watched bbc news lately Sam? There was no mention a few weeks back when the disabled were out protesting against the cuts to their benefit,no mention of the virtual death knell of the NHS when lansley's NHS bill was pushed through the lords. But whenever Cameron has some crap idea like "the big society" the bbc shout it from the rooftops. Look who is chairman of the bbc,a former tory front bencher. Who is plitical editor? A former leader of the young conservatives. Who front all their political shows? A self confessed thatcherite. The bbc is as bad as sky.

I'm neither saying I agree or disagree with your ire. Chairmen of the BBC change. Sometime's they're lefties and sometimes righties.

Now back to my question: why are all your posts about political point scoring?
