Celtic won the European Cup in 1967 with a team comprised entirely of home-grown, local players that were all born within a 30-mile radius of Celtic Park.
Ah the wonders of capitalism! What progress!

In 1989-90, the average price to watch Manchester United was ?4.71; it was ?5.41 to go to Anfield, ?6.71 to see George Graham's Arsenal. The lowest prices, to stand, were a good deal cheaper than that. Lord Justice Taylor called on the clubs not to use all-seater refurbishments as a reason to raise ticket prices, but although they were given up to ?2m grants of public money to aid their rebuilding, the clubs all ignored his recommendation.
Clubs do not publish average ticket prices now, but, by 2007, roughly, they have put the cost up by 600% since then, while, according to the Office for National Statistics, prices in general rose around 82% over the same period.
Oh no, is there a downside to capitalism???????
Cheers

I though City played a really smart game, they started slowly and felt their way into the game. While they had an extremely talented team on the pitch, they never got to cocky or got overawed by the game. They never played defensively either but just waited for the right moment. But by the end they showed their true class. Yeah they've spent a fortune, but they oozed class. If they keep their head i can see them winning the title. Too soon for Europe though!

I'm getting worried about the BIG match on Tuesday now with my properly supported team !nervous! COYS !footie!
At least they'll have a great surface to play on so nothing for Mr Ferguson to moan about..
Hopefully it'll mean a proper team gets selected to get a reaction..
!peace!

Having watched the highlights on MOTD last night I would say that firstly I thought Utd's goal was superb and possibly the best of the 7 scored, that City probably should have had 10 rather than 6 - Dzeko missed 2, Silva 1 and we should have had a penalty, forget Jonny Evans being lambasted, that was the worst performance Rio Ferdinand will ever put in, he was awful ! Rooney put a shift in as always as did Ashley Young but the rest were less than average. For City Richards was good, Milner really good but David Silva is by miles the best player in the premiership at the moment. Let's hope he can do it during the winter months !
