Ian Brown had said that the band are reforming. I seem to recall that when he was asked this many times over the years, he said it would never happen. He said something like "it would take the moon, the sun and all the stars being given to me, and even then it wouldn't be enough for me to want to reform the band". Now they are reforming. I can only assume it is for the money.

They should be able to reissue the first album ... again .. on the strength of it.

Interesting, I was not aware John Squire was out. The band reforming without him would be like The Smiths without Johhny Marr. I mean, Blur did an album and a tour without Graham Coxon and that didn't work.

Apparently the Newsnight interview was from March 2009, over two and a half years ago. This is from Wikipedia:

"In March 2009, Squire put an end to speculation surrounding the Stone Roses' reunion by defacing one of his artworks with the text "I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses."[11] Also on 19 March 2009, Squire appeared on the BBC's Newsnight, and when asked if a reunion would ever occur, he stated that it "absolutely most definitely not". He said he came on air to address the fans once and for all and also, "to stop the phones ringing." He also stated his belief that music is a young person's game."

Maybe John Squire has changed his mind recently. I'll look online to see if I can find anything recent from him on this subject.

Er, yes, we know. That was the point!

They have only announced dates for 3 Manchester show, apparantly with a world tour to follow (though if they can't get along for their 3 days that might be off!). All 4 original members are taking part, though John Squire & Ian Brown have said many times it would NEVER EVER happen. I guess money really does talk? Would be interesting to know if they will play anything off of the "Second Coming" as Ian Brown hates it & totally panned it in his book?

Also tickets are apparantly going to cost ?100 each!!! Though its supposed to be like a mini fest with The Courteeneers & Kasabian playing. Still its a bit steep just for a half decent 80's band with 1 decent album!
