Live Animal Exports

Live animal exports still take place from the port of Ramsgate, these animals travel from all over the UK and Southern Ireland on lorries to Ramsgate, they are then transferred on to a ship ferried to the other side of the channel and then transferred back on to trucks to be taken down to Spain and Italy for slaughter, this is a cruel trade.
Thanet council who own the Port of Ramsgate are totally against live animal exports but are powerless to stop it as it is currently a legal trade.
Never the less they are behind this e-petition to limit the time that animals can be transported to eight hours which would bring an end to live exports.
Calves as young as only two days old are also transported on these boats and then kept in crates to be fattened up for veal, this cannot be right so please sign this petition, thankyou...
