More efficient tax collection was proposed as an alternative to deep cuts. The coalition didn't run with it and nothing has been done about inefficiencies.

Cameron can say 'Inform on an illegal immigrant'. Why doesn't he encourage people to do the same in cases of tax avoidance ?

It troubles me a lot to think that half or more of the money the Tory party receives comes from the City. One good thing though is that at least Tony Blair passed a law saying that any party donation of more than ?5,000 had to be published, so at least we now know who is giving political party's money. Prior to Blair, in the Major and Thatcher days, no one knew where any of it came from.

Not everyone, only corporate Britain.

The vast majority of people have no choice in how much tax they pay. It is taken at source.

Given the City has a controlling share of the Tory party's funding, until the great British public gets off its knees and inculcates fear into the Tory government to a similar level that the Tory government has been spreading fear in the great British public, nothing will change.

New Labour had 13 whole years to plug these tax loop holes and they did FUCK ALL. As for being the so called "party of the working man" they should hang their heads in shame. New Labour were the biggest corporate arse lickers of all time, they even beat the Tories into a cocked hat for brown nosing the rich.

Both parties think if you make the rich richer, somehow they will pass on a few more crumbs to the rest of us. No they wont, they will just keep the lot and put two fingers up to the rest of us.

Not much point asking Labour to do it now or protesting against them.

Tax avoidance isn't illegal. That's why we employ accountants.

Everyone who has a pension has shares invested in these companies. The pensions would be worth less if companies didn't bend the rules to make pensioners richer. !whistle!

WIth respect this is an old chesnut.

Tax avoidance is loopholes that the Revenue have not gone around to closing and changing to tax evasion which is illegal.

Tax planning is making best use of your tax allowances/expenses etc.

What we should employ accountants for is the latter. What we should not be able to employ them for is the complex tax avoidance, offshoring etc. etc techniques used by big business.
