Just had the best rejection yet. I applied via facebook to an advert about shooting camera on some music videos. After directing them to my website :- I spoke with their rep today. When I asked if I would be considered, the answer was a staggering - "Doing porn videos is not a proffesional". HA !!!! What a fucking joke this country is !

I can't speak for the way you may film terry but from my own vast experience 'back in the day' when we had budgets, it was indeed exactly the same process as shooting a 'proper' TV programme or movie. And I have recently been told that I shoot this method by a sky camerman. So yes it should be more involved than your simplistic view for sure. I am simply pointing out a simple stupid prejudice that ONLY exists here in the UK and it's pathetic !

We are scum gentlemen, filthy , dirty, something-you-tread-on-crawling-
under-the-carpet porn scum ! The real world of the middle classes and
professional classes is that "Whoa, hey, what fun to be a cheeky chappie
porn geezer and mix with porn sluts all the time", but when it comes to
giving a c.v. or using us in the normal way of work, confessing you worked
in the porn industry is a clear invite to have the door slammed in one`s
face ! Being fairly middle-class and having several friends from academic
backgrounds I have seen this many times !!
I actually agree with Dave that the big productions he used to work on are
not so very different from music videos (I recall directing one for a dreadful
German rock band on top of Glencoe around 1982, before I was trashed as
International Man Of Filth). But we are dirt !! Never mind chaps. Keep
the middle classes with their company cars and retirement packages
happy.....lets live the porn fantasy.....and wheel in the next porn babe so I
can squeeze her tits , heh heh heh !!

I'm afraid the technical requirments required in the modern world of pop videos has left porn way behind. We are in the Stone Age when compared to the sheer budgets and technical expertise involved in this multi-?million industry. They are shooting to the standards of a Hollywood movie. They'd laugh you out the door when you show up with your Sony Z1, smoke machine and some tinsel and say, "Ok guys let's get started!".

Also what about all the poor bastards who are already desperately trying to get into the pop video industry? Gone to film school, "Paid their dues" and still can't get a job? Or what about the directors and cameramen, once well known and now no longer, "Flavour of the month" and booted out? Or in fact all the others everywhere who can't get a job doing what they want to do? I would have liked to have been a barrister, but I wasn't able to retain all the case law cobblers and had too many commitments, so I had to drop out. I might have been a sodding QC by now on ?1million a year whlst I sipped brandy on my balcony in a Georgian house in London SW3! Boo! Hoo! Hoo!

So it's a case of, "Welcome to the party pal!" The World ain't fair!

Should have known better that the 'straight or 'proper' film and TV world is full of stupid ignorant, arrogant, un-professional TWATS ? No, hang on that's just the same as porn now ! WOW !

The point I am trying to make Terry is simple. I maybe through my own fault of devoting my adult life to porn have reached 52 yeras of age and found that I am not wanted anymore anywhere in any profession. What am I supposed to do exactly lie down and die or fight ? I fight by telling it like it is. I have ability, experience and knowledge to shoot anything very very well. I advertise this ability wherever and however I can to get attention and hopefully you never know, someone may well take a chance and give me a job ! If you or anybody have a problem with this method, I couldn't care less.

Mr Slip - I take your point that a pop video today is light years more
sophisticated (in most but not ALL) cases than 25 years ago. We can
all marvel at the money and technical wizardry of these things.
That Mr Wells might very well be able to compose a nice shot or handle
a video camera and shoot one - the point he was making - I cannot
comment on except to say that I give him in the benefit of the doubt. I,
myself, was talking of directing, and human beings, Jim, and the ability
to tell performers what to do or have a vision for your pop video is the
same now as in 1985.....indeed, a modern ultra-sophisticated pop video
is story-boarded and the director has a veritable army of technicians to
help him create the finished 3-4 mins, from CGI experts to camera &
lighting experts, the list is endless.
Dave`s point was that even to THINK you have an ability is worth nothing
(to other folk) if you come from a porn background. How many people in
normal walks of life living near you know of your porn background - or
would accept it if they did ? I suspect Mr Slip, like Dave and the rest of us,
they would sneer and think "Dirty old man...porn scum...." or worse. My
advice to Dave is accept the way it is matey. Things ain`t gonna change.
You took up porn as a career moons ago, and became scum the day you
did it ! Sorry and all but thats life !
