Well you don't need to shoot first to end up being shot, pointing a gun at someone is enough to get yourself fired upon, but I agree, some will use it as a justification to steal a plasma TV.

Didn't they say the gun recovered at the scene was tucked in a sock and not ready for use? I seem to remember reading that, but cannot remember where now.

And I heard (via a BBC news item) that a police spokesman claimed no-one in the police had officially stated that he had fired, this was just assumed due to the bullet in radio incident.

But no doubt they'll be other claims about this, contradicting this, we just don't know. We need more solid information, which just isn't available yet.

God knows they make mistakes but by and large they are there to
