What they said - then and now.

Rupert Murdoch Feb 2007
If youre talking about illegal tapping by a private investigator, that is not part of our culture anywhere in the world
Rupert Murdoch July 2011
Recent allegations of phone hacking and making payments to police in respect to the NOTW are deplorable and unacceptable.

Rebekah Brooks July 2009
The Guardian coverage of phone hacking we believe, has substantially and likely deliberately misled the British public.
Rebekah Brooks July 2011
I have to tell you I am sickened that these events (the hacking of Millie Dowler's phone) are alleged to have happened.

Boris Johnson Sept 2010
Concerns about NOTW phone hacking are codswallop that looks like a politically motivated put-up job by the Labour party.
Boris Johnson July 2011
It is unbelieable that victims of some of the most odious crimes in recent years have had their suffering prolonged and intensified by such blatant intrusion.

Who has caused this turnaround when just about everybody else was looking the other way with regard to News International? The police? No. Politicians? No.

Stand forward, Nick Davies, journalist on the Guardian who has plugged away on this for nearly three years.

Has to be journalist of the year.

Cheers
D

Indeed a job well done, but don't forget, people like Brooks/Wade adapt and survive, up until regime change she was a "close personal friend of Gordon Brown" before becoming a "close personal friend of David Cameron"

Interesting little story here which I had not seen before:
